UPDATING OF LEGISLATION

Updating of legislations is an on-going service whereby Federals Acts, State Enactments, as well as gazette notifications, being primary legal sources of reference are continually updated after coming into force. The Federal and State Legislation Indexes are also compiled to facilitate quick legal information search.
DIGITIZATION OF LIBRARY MATERIALS

To facilitate research and effective selection of library materials, the Resource Centre undertakes the digitization project for rare collections which includes original documents from 19th Century publications, historical documents relating to the nation’s independence as well as collections of domestic legislations published in pre-independent Malaya.
KNOWLEDGE SHARING SESSION

Knowledge sharing is a mutual exchange of ideas and information that could influence officer’s knowledge in term of ideas, skills and attitude. Knowledge sharing session initiated by the library enable the officers to create space for open communication during the speech session and the book review session.
LENDING AND RETURNING SERVICES

Registration as members of the Resource Centre would enable the borrowing of up to six (6) books for a duration of two weeks. Membership is open only to officers and staff members of AGC.
INTER LIBRARY LOANS

The Resource Centre provides interlibrary loans through the Publications Delivery System (PDS) for those who wish to borrow books or obtain copies of documents/articles from other libraries. Request for this service may be made through the Librarian or staff on duty at the service counter.
PHOTOCOPY SERVICES

Photocopies of library materials are provided on request for to officers and staff members of AGC in their course of work, subject to the provisions of the Copyright Act 1987.
COLLECTIONS
Primary Sources of legislations may be found in Government and State Gazettes. This valuable collection includes Ordinances, Acts, Amending Acts, PU(A), PU(B), State Enactments and legislations as well as reference sources such as Mallal’s Digest and Halsbury;s

Laws of Malaysia which are frequently referred to and can only be used within the Special Collection Room. The Special collection also consists of old collection of The Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States pre -1950. Due to limited copies, these collections are for reference only and cannot be borrowed.
The AGC Resource Centre has undertaken a digitization program to preserve rare documents and books within the library’s collection.
Law reports are the basic primary source on law comprising of reported court cases . There are more than 90 titles of law reports available in the Resource Centre collection which includes the Malayan Law Journal, Current Law Journal, All England Law Reports and Australian Law Reports.
The library collection consists of reference and text books which are made available on open shelves and can be borrowed.

Books/monographs on law form a substantial part of the Resource Centre collection which also includes books on management, leadership, information technology and competency assessment for the AGC user.
Serials form another part of the Resource Centre collection which includes journals, magazines, newspapers and bulletins subscribed to and occasionally received as gifts.

ABOUT US
About Us
Perpustakaan Abu Yusuf Yaqub Al-Khindi was established to support the functions of the Attorney General’s Chambers of Malaysia. The library is located at Level 3 of the AGC building in Presint 4, Putrajaya.
Perpustakaan Abu Yusuf Yaqub Al-Khindi’s services are dedicated and limited to officers and staff members of AGC and on a case to case basis, service may be extended to other government agencies.
Introduction
The Law Library of the Attorney General’s Chambers of Malaysia was first established in 1948 and is one of the oldest and most significant law libraries in Malaysia. Renamed Perpustakaan Abu Yusuf Yaqub Al-Khindi it is responsible for giving legal information, reference services and updating legislations and legal indexes. The library also provides collection development, preservation and digitization of legal collections, training on legal online databases and current awareness services to officers and staff members of AGC.
Objective
The main objective of Perpustakaan Abu Yusuf Yaqub Al-Khindi is to provide quality, efficient and effective reference and information services to officers and staff members of AGC. These services are also extended the State Legal Advisors throughout Malaysia.
